Surveillance Camera Housing Basic Info
Surveillance camera housings are used to protect surveillance cameras and lenses to work properly.
The camera housing is one of the major parts in the whole surveillance system. It is usually divided into two types: the indoor camera housing and the outdoor camera housing.
The indoor camera housing varies in size, shape and surface treatment. Its function is anti-dust and anti-destroy.
The outdoor camera housing requires that the encapsulation properties should be excellent, ensuring that the rain drops do not get inside to corrode the camera. Some of the outdoor camera housings are equipped with fans and heaters to provide better protection. When the weather is hot, the fan starts work automatically; when it is very cold the heater works.
When choosing a camera housing, first it must be big enough to hold the surveillance camera. Secondly, one should choose a suitable camera housing according to different environment. The less holes there are in the camera housing, the better water-resistant it will be. Furthermore, the connecting lines should be installation friendly. Finally, one has to consider the shape, the weight, the bracket, etc.
There are several shapes among all camera housings, mainly dome, cylinder, and cuboid.
The materials used in camera housings include aluminum, iron, and stainless steel. Aluminum camera housings are gaining popularity as they are light, environment-friendly, and cost effective.
